Starting a Level 3 Learning & Development Practitioner Apprenticeship was a clear and positive step for Jasmine Day, an early years professional at Wylde Green Nursery. She wanted to grow professionally and expand future career opportunities within the sector.
Jasmine added, “I wanted to become a Level 3 qualified practitioner to open more doors in the Early Years. I completed my Level 2 with Realise and Wylde Green Nursery, so moving on to this course felt like a natural step. I knew this qualification would look great on my CV and help future employers see my commitment to learning.”
Choosing an apprenticeship over the classroom
After leaving school, Jasmine initially attended college but soon realised that a classroom-based approach wasn’t right for her.
“I felt college wasn’t hands-on enough. I wanted to be in a setting, doing something practical while earning at the same time.”
Jasmine went on to complete both Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships in the same setting with Realise and has been working at the same nursery for over two years now.
“This has been a great opportunity to work with children and learn at the same time. I felt like I learnt a lot just through observing the children and seeing how different every child learns and interacts.”
Learning that fits different styles
One of the things Jasmine valued the most about her apprenticeship was how flexible and accessible the learning was.
“I really liked how the course catered to different learners. I learn best by talking things through, so the webinars were great for asking questions and understanding things better.”
At the same time, having access to learning materials online meant visual learners were fully supported too. All these different styles of learning and practice observations were very helpful in preparing for the End-Point Assessment.
“One file had all the different PowerPoints accessible 24/7. I enjoyed the way in which professional discussions were conducted, helping me prepare for my final end point assessment discussion.”
The journey ahead
Reflecting on her journey, Jasmine is clear about how much completing her apprenticeship has changed her life.
“If I hadn’t completed this course, I wouldn’t be anywhere I am today. It helped my confidence, my knowledge and the responsibilities I now have.”
Using new skills everyday
Since completing this course, she continues to apply her skills daily within the nursery.
“I am using the skills I learnt day to day at my setting and wouldn’t be where I am now without it. I’ll keep using this qualification for future job opportunities. It’s helped me become the best practitioner I can be.”
