Teaching Assistant Gill works with children aged four to twelve. Her role involves covering teachers' planning, preparation, and assessment time - a critical responsibility that demands a strong skill set. Looking to enhance her confidence and skills, she enrolled on Realise's Level 2 Functional Skills course.
Before starting her journey with Realise, Gill found herself working in retail. She discovered Realise online and decided to take the first step and enrol in our Level 2 Functional Skills English course enhanced her skillset to help further her teaching career.
On her first day, Gill felt overwhelmed, not knowing what to expect. But with the help and support of her tutor, Bev, she quickly found her footing. One of the highlights of her training was how Bev tailored the sessions to suit Gill’s learning style, helping her retain information effectively.
Gill’s dedication and the supportive environment of Realise helped her achieve a newfound confidence in delivering English sessions. “I feel much more confident and comfortable now,” she shares. Her next goal? Tackling Maths with the same determination!
Gill wholeheartedly recommends Realise to anyone considering developing their skills and confidence. “Go for it,” she says. “You can learn around your family and work commitments. It benefits your personal development and gives you a real sense of accomplishment. My confidence has soared, and it’s helped me step out of my comfort zone and rebuilt my self-esteem.”
The journey wasn’t without its challenges. Gill experienced some personal difficulties during her learning journey, but Bev was there and went above and beyond to ensure Gill’s mental health and well-being were supported. “I thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Bev,” Gill adds.
