Since leaving school, Jaimie Lee's path has taken her through college, voluntary work, and factory employment. After having children, she found a new passion: working with children in an educational setting. She knew she wanted to make a difference but needed the right training to get started.
That’s when she discovered Realise through a Facebook post advertising the Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools course. “After caring for my young children at home, I felt passionate about starting a career supporting children,” she shared.
This course was just the beginning of Jaimie Lee’s journey with Realise. She has since completed the following five courses: Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools, Level 2 Support Work in Schools and Colleges, Level 2 Understanding Autism, Level 2 Mental Health First Aid, and Level 2 Special Education Needs and Disability.
Although nervous on the first day, she quickly felt at ease. “I went in feeling nervous and left feeling hopeful and encouraged. My tutor and classmates made me feel comfortable, and I soon felt excited about my new learning journey.”
She embraced every aspect of the training, particularly the group activities and class discussions. “I have enjoyed every part of the training so much that I am going on to do another course after already completing five courses!” she said enthusiastically.
Her hard work and dedication have already paid off. “The courses have helped me take the next step in my journey. My qualifications have helped me secure a job as a Deputy Manager of a school link club, giving me the experience to back up my learning.”
Jaimie Lee has since enrolled on our Level 3 Autism course to deepen her knowledge and open more doors in her career. “My end goal is to support children in an educational setting, and with the help of my tutor and Realise, I have the opportunity to make this happen.”
Jaimie Lee has been particularly appreciative of her tutor’s teaching style. “Lindsey has been very encouraging and supportive throughout all the courses. She made me feel at ease from the first day, which has helped my confidence grow. She creates a positive atmosphere in class and encourages group activities and discussions to include everyone. The recap time in each session has been really helpful for refreshing my knowledge.”
Inspired by her success, Jaimie Lee now encourages others to follow the same path. “I have already recommended Realise courses to a friend who is considering a career change. I told them how much I have learned, how my life has changed, and how these courses can support their next steps.”
Jaimie Lee feels grateful for the support and opportunities provided by Realise. “Realise is a great resource for giving people like me an opportunity to reach their goals.”
With her drive and determination, there’s no doubt that Jaimie Lee will continue to achieve great things in her career, supporting children and making a lasting impact in education.
