About the course

‘Accelerate into early years’ is our Skills Bootcamp – a short course specially designed to help people upskill, find a job, and start earning.

It has been developed in partnership with leading employers and local authorities and on completion, offers you a direct route to our fast-track level 3 early years educator apprenticeship – saving you up to 6 months of learning time and getting you into your dream role much faster.

It is designed to be flexible and accessible. Whether you prefer face-to-face learning or online study, you’ll gain valuable experience and knowledge to prepare you for this next step.

Plus – it won’t cost you anything and we’ll even help you with your DBS application!

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Flexible learning options: Choose between a 3-week in-person course (limited locations), a 6-week mid-week online programme or a 12-week Saturday only programme.
  • No cost to join: Provided you are aged 19 or over and meet our eligibility criteria, there is absolutely nothing for you to pay. Plus – if you progress onto our accelerated level 3 apprenticeship, there’s nothing to pay there either.
  • Accelerate your progress: This Skills Bootcamp offers you a unique, direct path, to our accelerated level 3 early years educator apprenticeship, saving you up to 6 months of learning time and helping you start your dream role much faster.
  • Gain your paediatric first aid qualification, which is essential to work in an early years setting. The cost of this will be covered by Realise.
  • Support with your DBS application: We will handle the costs and paperwork for your DBS application, helping you to focus on your learning.
  • Personalised support: Benefit from personalised support and guidance throughout your course, ensuring you have all of the resources and assistance you need to succeed.

How long is the fast-track level 3 early years educator apprenticeship?

To access this accelerated apprenticeship, you must first complete our Skills Bootcamp in Early Years. This can take 3-12 weeks depending on your preferred learning option.

From there, you can move onto our accelerated apprenticeship which can be completed in just 12 months, plus end point assessment. This is 6 months less learning than the standard apprenticeship which takes 18 months, plus end point assessment.

What’s included in the Skills Bootcamp for early years?

The Skills Bootcamp in Early Years includes:

1. Sign up with Realise – you can do this through our website or by emailing vacancy.hub@realisetraining.com

2. Meet your Career Coach – they will offer one-to-one support throughout the programme

3. Apply for your DBS, which is paid for by Realise

4. Join the 3-week in-person course or opt for the 6-week mid-week or 12-week Saturday only online programme

5. Gain your paediatric first aid qualification

6. Upon completion of the course, your Career Coach will support you to find apprenticeship opportunities

7. You’ll be able to progress into an industry recognised level 3 apprenticeship – and complete in six months less than other routes available!

What type of role can you interview for after the Skills Bootcamp?

Skills Bootcamp graduates can interview for a wide range of paid early years roles after completing the course. Candidates could interview for roles such as early years educator apprentice, childminder, nanny, pre-school assistant, teaching assistant and so much more!

Is the guaranteed interview for a paid role paid at minimum wage?

This is at the discretion of the early years employer. Some employers will pay at national minimum wage based on the size of the setting and geographical location. Some employers will pay above national minimum wage because they understand that Skills Bootcamps candidates have the skills they need and are more sector ready than other applicants.

Can I work part-time and do the Skills Bootcamp?

Absolutely! The course has been designed with flexibility in mind so you can study at a time and place that suits you.

Can you still join if you have a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare & Education or equivalent qualification?

Yes, you can still enrol on the Skills Bootcamp – the course will refresh existing knowledge and skills. Learners who have existing early years qualifications would not be suitable to interview for a Level 3 Apprenticeship after the course but Realise will still support those learners in securing a job at the appropriate level.

What happens if there are no job vacancies in my local area?

Realise has live vacancies across the whole of England and we have a team of regional engagement officers who will work with local employers to consider interviewing our Skills Bootcamps candidates. It might be that they’re not advertising right now, but they could be very soon! We commit to supporting our learners in finding employment for six months after completing the course.

Are all the online learning sessions live?

Yes, the Skills Bootcamps provide you with a very hands-on learning experience. Learners will join group live learning sessions every week.

Does enrolling on a Skills Bootcamp affect my benefits such as Universal Credit?

No. Whilst enrolled on the programme, the Skills Bootcamp does not affect any benefits or government support that you may be receiving. Once you have successfully found employment, you will need to make your JCP advisor aware as your paid income will affect how much you can claim.
