About the course

Our childcare study programme has been designed by sector experts to deliver real work experience while teaching you the skills you need to get hired.

  • Get real life experience in the fast-paced childcare sector
  • Increase your chances of progression onto an apprenticeship
  • Support to develop your maths and English skills if necessary
  • A free DBS
  • Study programmes are funded by the Government, depending on eligibility

Is this course right for you?

Study programmes are a great alternative for young people who may not feel ready for an apprenticeship. Maybe your skills and experience need developing a bit before an employer will take you on. If this is the case for you, you should seriously consider a study programme as a first step.

A lack of qualifications or work experience doesn’t have to stand in the way of getting on the career ladder. Study programmes help young people in this very situation.

Anyone aged 16 – 19 with little or no work experience, and without a level 3 qualification, can apply for a childcare study programme at Realise.

What you’ll learn

You will develop new skills that will underpin your future success in an apprenticeship or early years setting.

The course includes:

  • Completion of the level 1 diploma in caring for children. This includes topics such as craft activities for children, learning and development through play, listening and talking to young children, healthy living and safeguarding.
  • A high-quality work placement with one of our network of trusted employers to give meaningful work experience and an opportunity to develop workplace skills
  • Support to develop your English and maths skills if necessary
  • Support to develop your confidence, communication, team working skills and to prepare for the workplace

How you’ll learn

The programme is delivered in cohorts, to provide learners with the opportunity to network with individuals at similar stages of their career.
