About the course

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a Teaching Assistant, now’s the perfect time to take the first step.
 
Starting in September 2025 and fully funded in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council, this free-to-access training course will introduce you to the exciting, rewarding world of supporting pupils in school.
 
You’ll discover exactly what the role involves, develop the practical skills schools are looking for and build the confidence to step straight into a new career where every day makes a difference.
 
 

Here’s what you can expect

  • Attend this full time course over 16 working days to gain a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (NCFE CACHE Award - Levels 1 and 2).
  • Access a high quality programme delivered by subject experts.

    On this course you will learn:
    • School structures and roles
    • Child and youth health, safety and well-being.
    • Communication with children young people and adults.
    • Child and young person development.
    • Professional relationships.
    • Health, safety and risk management.
    • Safeguarding children and young people.
    • Equality, diversity and inclusion in learning environments. 

The content for this course is delivered face-to-face in small groups across three different locations in Lincolnshire: Gainsborough, Lincoln city centre and Boston.

 

When does this course start?

There are various start dates for the Teaching Assistant course depending on where you are based:

  • Lincoln city centre - 15th September - 6th October
  • Gainsborough - 13th October - 10th November (no delivery during half term)
  • Boston - 17th November - 8th December

 

Eligibility:

  • Unemployed or employed and earn less than £25,750 and looking to work in education as a teaching assistant
  • Age 19 or over as of 31st August 2025
  • Resident in Lincolnshire
  • Ordinarily resident in the UK
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK
