About the course:
This level 2 course is approved by Skills For Care and has received Quality Assured Care Learning Service approval. The Quality Assured Care Learning Service reviews training provider and course quality, making sure training is accessible, high-quality, and meets the needs of both the workforce and people who draw on care and support.

This course will give you an in-depth understanding of medications used in the health and social care sector and how to handle them appropriately so that you can best support those in your care.

This 8 week short course will run via weekly webinars, giving you the opportunity to do your coursework at home. You will receive a professional Level 2 qualification awarded to you by TQUK.

The course is £399 + VAT - with re-imbursement funding of up to £315 available to eligible employers from the LDSS.

  • Roles & Responsibilities - explore what it means to take responsibility for safe medication administration, understand your role and its limits in handling medicines, get to grips with key policies, audits, and inspections, learn how to keep accurate records that meet regulations, and build confidence in maintaining confidentiality while following professional guidance.
  • Medication Management in Health & Social Care - discover the different types, classifications, and uses of medication, understand how prescriptions, renewals, and emergency supplies are managed, learn the right way to record and document medicines, explore safe storage practices and guidance on self-administration, and gain insight into monitored dosage systems and how to judge their suitability.
  • Principles, Practices and Person Centred Care - learn how to prepare for safe medication administration with a focus on consent and hygiene, carry out the vital checks and verification steps before giving medication, explore different methods, equipment, and monitoring techniques, understand how to review and respond to side effects or adverse reactions, and build the skills to manage refusals, compromised medication, and proper reporting systems with confidence.
  • Legislation, Risk and Safeguarding Practices - develop the skills to support and assess safe self-administration of medication, learn how to record accurately while safeguarding best practice, understand how to respond to errors, problems, or concerns, explore correct storage and preparation for discarding medicines, and gain confidence in the safe disposal of medication and related aids.
