This course provides essential mental health awareness and first aid skills, helping you support individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Topics include:
  • Understanding mental health – key terms, definitions and the impact of mental ill health
  • Recognising signs and symptoms – identifying conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder and eating disorders
  • Mental health legislation – understanding UK laws and policies supporting mental health
  • Roles and responsibilities of a mental health first aider – assessing emergencies and taking appropriate action
  • Crisis management – contacting emergency services, offering support and ensuring safety
  • Building a supportive environment – promoting mental health awareness in workplaces and communities
How you will learn:
This course is delivered in a classroom setting, with expert trainers guiding you every step of the way through: Face-to-face classroom sessions, interactive discussions and role-play scenarios, case studies and real-world applications, practical exercises in mental health first aid response

Eligibility:
You must be a Liverpool City Region resident, be aged 19 or over on 31 August 2026, be ordinarily resident in the UK, and have the right to live and work in the UK.

You are eligible if you are unemployed or employed earning less than £37,144.00 per year. If you are employed and earn more than this, you may still be eligible.
