About the course

This 14 month programme is delivered throughout the year which means you are able to start when it suits you.

You will learn new knowledge, skills and behaviours so that you can deliver effective leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery.

You will be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support, guiding those around you to deliver quality compassionate care.

Training is delivered both on-the-job and off-the-job. You’ll receive workplace face to face teaching and observations as well as joining webinars, virtual one-to-one sessions, completing online learning and independent tasks. Your trainer will meet with you every month in a teaching and learning session and be on hand at all times so that you get the very best support.

This course is cost-free to learners. All our programmes are regulated and funded through the government or the apprenticeship levy.

Throughout the programme we will meet with you to ensure you understand your programme, to report on your development and progress as well as making sure your programme requirements are being met.

What you’ll learn

You’ll develop a wide range of skills so that you’re able to successfully supervise, lead and support others to deliver quality care. We’ll teach and support you to be a competent lead adult care worker able to deliver the very best care and be an expert practitioner.

To help fulfil your role, we’ll equip you with the expertise to provide supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others.

Key learning topics covered during the apprenticeship include:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
  • Supporting individuals to stay safe
  • Health and well-being
  • Playing an active role in developing personal care plans

If you don’t have Level 1 English and maths we’ll help you to achieve this before reaching end point assessment and get you ready to take the test for Level 2. Our team of highly skilled specialist English and maths tutors can provide additional support if needed.

How you’ll learn

Our sector expert staff will support you to achieve the apprenticeship. We have highly skilled and knowledgeable staff with significant experience of working in the industry who will be able to share their experiences and support you.

We deliver the programme throughout the year providing you with the flexibility to start the apprenticeship when it meets your needs. All learning is either on a 1-2-1 basis or small group webinars so you have the best experience possible with sector experts.

Our delivery model includes:

  • Face to face sessions
  • Regular 1-2-1 support
  • Remote support
  • Assignments
  • Ongoing mentoring, coaching and support
  • Specialist English/maths support (if needed)
  • End point assessment preparation and support, including Gateway Readiness Check and mock tests
  • You will also record and track your learning progress through your e-portfolio, helping to support and evidence your journey.

This course does not cover nursing.

This course is aimed at those with existing care experience. Typical job titles and job roles suitable for the programme include: Care Officer, Care Supervisor, Senior Care Worker, Supervising Care Worker, Senior Support Worker, Relief Team Leader, Social Work Assistant and Social Services Officer.

To start this programme, you will need prior experience within care and be working towards leading and supervising, if not already. Other programmes are available for those with no experience such as the Level 1 introduction to care. We will work with you to determine the best programme for you.

The programme is designed for support workers and senior support workers, ready for their next stage in their career, successfully supervising and leading others to deliver quality care.

This level 3 lead adult careworker apprenticeship takes approximately 14 months to complete.
