About the course

The leader in adult care is a 18 month programme delivered throughout the year with 15 months of practical learning delivered on a 1-2-1 basis and then 3 months for completing End Point Assessment.

The programme aims to increase the technical understanding and the practical abilities of those who have responsibility to ensure the most vulnerable adults receive excellent quality of care and support.

We will help to develop a range of skills that can be used in your setting, including improving CQC assessment ratings. The programme will benefit those working in a wide range of settings such as nursing homes, clinical healthcare, domiciliary care, day centres and support services.

Our flexible start dates means that you can start the programme when it suits you instead of having to wait for a particular time in the year. A team of experienced expert trainers will help support and develop your knowledge and understanding so that you’re able to successfully complete the apprenticeship and progress in your career.

This course is cost-free to learners. All our programmes are regulated and funded through the government or the apprenticeship levy.

If you’re a leader or manager of a care team, responsible for business development, financial control, organisational resilience and continuity as well as for managing risk or leading on organisational change this could be the programme for you.

This is a technical and specific programme designed to help you to be able to guide and inspire teams to make positive differences to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological or intellectual challenges.

The apprenticeship will help you to reflect on and develop knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in the workplace to make improvements. Our experienced trainers will help you to develop the skills and know-how to improve the CQC rating of the setting.

Typical job titles and job roles suitable for the programme include: registered, assistant, deputy, unit or service manager.

Throughout the programme we will meet with you to ensure you understand your programme, to report on your development and progress as well as making sure your programme requirements are being met.

What you’ll learn

You’ll develop a wide range of skills to set you up for a successful career in the sector and also gain the level 5 diploma in leadership and management for adult care. This is a qualification that the CQC expect all Managers to have or to be working towards.

Key learning topics covered during the apprenticeship include:

  • Management theories
  • Governance and regulatory processes
  • Strategies to support others
  • Quality & quality improvement
  • Partnership working including better networking in the local area

If you don’t have level 1 English and maths we’ll help you to achieve this before reaching end point assessment and get you ready to take the test for level 2. Our team of highly skilled specialist English and maths tutors can provide additional support if needed.

How you’ll learn

Our sector expert staff will support you to achieve the apprenticeship. We have highly skilled and knowledgeable staff with significant experience of working in the industry who will be able to share their experiences and support you.

We deliver the programme throughout the year providing you with the flexibility to start the apprenticeship when it meets your needs. All learning is either on a 1-2-1 basis or small group webinars so you have the best experience possible with sector experts.

We have designed a flexible programme which is typically delivered on a 1-2-1 basis and includes:

  • Assessment and induction
  • Face-to-face sessions (or remote delivery)
  • Regular 1-2-1 support (face to face and/or remote)
  • Assignments
  • Observations
  • Ongoing mentoring, coaching and support (including information, advice and guidance)
  • Specialist English and/or Maths support (if needed)

You will also record and track your learning progress through your e-portfolio, helping to support and evidence your journey.
