Teaching Assistant Pathway
This Level 2 course is a great starting point for anyone interested in working in education and supporting children and young people in schools and colleges.
Qualifications
- Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools
- Level 2 Support Work in Schools and Colleges
You'll develop a clear understanding of how schools and colleges work and what's involved in supporting teaching and learning, and the positive impact Teaching Assistants have.
On completion of the course, you'll receive a guaranteed interview and support to help you move into employment in the sector.

How you will learn:
The course is delivered in person, with engaging, tutor-led sessions in a classroom setting. Learning is interactive and designed to feel different from traditional teaching methods.
There's no sitting and watching PowerPoint slides. Instead, sessions focus on collaboration, discussion and meeting the needs of individual learners. You'll also have the chance to network with others who are considering a career in education.
Our supportive team will guide you throughout the programme, and you'll have access to resources to support your studies.
Eligibility:
You must be a West Yorkshire resident, be aged 19 or over on 31 August 2025, be ordinarily resident in the UK, and have the right to live and work in the UK.
You must be unemployed or employed and earning less than £25,750 per year. If you are employed and earn above this threshold, you may still be eligible.
