Are you based in Greater Manchester and want to launch your career as a bus driver? Try our free Route to Success course. This four-day course will set you up to become a professional bus driver and send you on your path to gaining a PCV licence.  

We’ll introduce you to the world of professional passenger driving and show you what a career as a bus driver is really like.  

We work closely with all the regional bus operators, including the Bee Network, so this could be your ticket into a career supporting your local community.

What you’ll cover on the Route to Success course:

• Myth busting and expectations
  Discover what it’s like to be a professional driver. We’ll clear up common misconceptions and help you understand what to expect from the role. 
• Introduction to PCV vehicles
  Learn how passenger carrying vehicles (PCVs) differ from cars, and what skills you’ll need to make the transition safely and confidently.
• Theory test preparation
  Build the knowledge and skills you’ll need to succeed in your theory and hazard perception tests.
• Industry insights
  Hear directly from drivers and employers about the opportunities available, the different types of operators (small vs large companies), and how progression works.
• Common challenges and resilience
  Explore the day-to-day issues drivers face and learn problem-solving strategies to stay confident and resilient on the road.
• Customer service in context
  There’s more to this than just driving - it’s about people too. You’ll learn how to deliver excellent customer service to real passenger situations.
• Employability and communication skills
  Gain essential workplace skills to help you succeed in interviews and your new career.

Where will you train?

You’ll be based at Realise Oldham Skills Hub. Facilities include classrooms and a breakout area. 

Who can apply?

If you’re unemployed and want to find out more about a career in bus driving, this is your opportunity to take the wheel and drive your success forward. To apply you’ll need to be: 

• age 19+
• unemployed
• living in Greater Manchester 
• a car driver and hold a full UK driving licence (Category B)
