Our FREE Maths course helps you build confidence in numbers, whether you’re budgeting, shopping or solving everyday problems at home or work.

Functional Skills Maths qualifications are free, nationally recognised and focus on practical math skills you can use in everyday life, work and further education. Whether it’s managing your money, understanding payslips, working out measurements, interpreting data, or even helping with homework, this course is designed to boost your confidence and make maths useful and relevant.

Is this course right for you?
These qualifications are ideal for anyone looking to upskill, change careers, or improve job prospects and are often a requirement for employers and training providers. Achieving Level 1 or Level 2 can open the door to further study, apprenticeships and a wide range of career opportunities.

Course duration:
Courses typically last between 8 and 16 weeks, depending on your starting level and how quickly you progress. We’ll work with you to create a flexible learning plan that fits around your life and goals, with morning, afternoon and evening sessions available as well as fast-track options.

Eligibility:
• Ordinarily live in the UK
• Have the right to live and work in the UK.
• Are over the age of 19 and are either employed or unemployed.

Please note: IT equipment is required, and Greater Manchester residents must be unemployed to qualify for funding.


Levels explained:

Entry Level 3:
Available to West Yorkshire residents only.
This level helps you build a strong foundation in basic numeracy and grow your confidence in everyday maths. It’s the perfect starting point before moving on to Level 1 or Level 2.

Level 1:
Equivalent to a GCSE grade D-G (or 3-1).
Level 1 develops key maths skills needed in most workplaces and adult learning environments. It also prepares you to progress onto Level 2.

Level 2:
Equivalent to GCSE grade A-C (or 9-4).
Level 2 is widely recognised by employers, colleges, and apprenticeship providers. It’s often a minimum requirement for jobs or further training.

When you apply, you’ll complete a short diagnostic assessment to determine your current level of understanding. This ensures you start at the right point and get the support you need to succeed.
