About the course
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to working in an educational environment. Guided by experienced tutors, you will explore the key roles and responsibilities within schools, as well as the policies and procedures that shape everyday practice.
The course covers effective communication methods, highlighting the importance of adapting communication when working with both children and adults. You will also develop an understanding of child development, positive behaviour in learning environments, and the national curriculum.
Health and safety is a key focus, including hazard identification, risk management and infection control. Throughout the course, you will be supported to plan for progression by developing essential employability skills. This well-rounded programme builds the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed for future opportunities in school-based roles.

Eligibility criteria
Age:
19+ on the course start date.
Residency & right to work:
Be ordinarily resident in the UK, and resident in South Yorkshire on the first day of learning.
Have the right to live and work in the UK.
Funding eligibility:
Be unemployed or employed, earning under £24,570 per year.
