This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on childcare experience while working towards a recognised Early Years qualification in a supportive childminding environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work alongside the Childminder to support the daily running of a busy childminding setting.
• Assist in providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children aged 0-5 years.
• Support children's learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Plan and participate in fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities.
• Encourage children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
• Help children develop independence, confidence, and positive relationships.
• Support children's personal care needs where appropriate.
• Prepare and maintain resources and learning environments.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and promote children's welfare at all times.
• Observe, monitor, and contribute to records of children's progress and achievements.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene throughout the setting.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and other professionals.
• Complete all apprenticeship coursework and attend training as required.

Qualifications required

GCSE Maths/English or equivalent, or willingness to work towards the required level of functional skills alongside the apprenticeship.

Personal qualities

Ability to engage with energetic and active children.
Willingness to learn and develop within an Early Years role.
Positive attitude and commitment to achieving an Early Years qualification.

Skills required

Caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with children.
Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and child welfare.

Training to be Provided

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:
• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.
