Happy Days Nursery is a nurturing space where children can thrive. They are looking for a Nursery Apprentice who has a passion to work with children and would like to undertake a level 3 qualification. If you are hardworking, have a friendly nature with a positive outlook we would like to hear from you. This role will require you to travel between 5 locations in Patchway, Thornbury, Filton, Bradley Stoke and yate so you will need to be a car driver.

Role Purpose:

- Ensure the welfare and safety of children is promoted and report safeguarding issues and concerns to the person in charge.
- Support the planning and delivery of purposeful play activities in line with the early years foundation stage.
- Work with parents, colleagues and other agencies to ensure children’s individual needs are met.
- Support the children to understand healthy life choices through engaging play activities.
- Take an active role in seeking out continuous professional development opportunities during the apprentices programme and beyond.
- Communication and knowledge of child development to engage with children and support those requiring additional support.
- Support children who are experiencing transitions such as moving to school or birth of a sibling, using your knowledge of the children to support them.
- Carry out respectful care routines such as feeding, nappy changing and dental care.
- Take an active part in the completion of their apprenticeship, meeting deadlines set by their trainer assessor and working with the dedicated mentor to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- Support children’s numeracy, literacy and language through a range of play activities and opportunities.

Qualifications required

  • Maths and English at grade 4 or equivalent
  • L2 childcare desirable but not essential

  • Committed to entering a career in childcare and completing the qualifications needed.
  • Able to interact with young children and have an understanding of child development.
  • Confident to ask for help and guidance, listen to instruction and carry out requests with regards to all aspects of the nursery.
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of people, including colleagues and parents.

A DBS check will be required as well as referencing. You will need to be a car driver to be able to travel between 5 locations.

Training to be Provided

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:
• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.
