Working as a nursery apprentice is a great opportunity to build a meaningful career while making a real difference every day.
You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting young children at a crucial stage of their development, helping them learn, grow, and gain confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support room staff to deliver high-quality, age-appropriate activities
• Help safeguard and promote the safety and welfare of all children
• Work in line with nursery policies, procedures and values
• Observe and record children’s development accurately
• Assist with planning activities based on children’s needs and interests
• Support mealtimes, personal care routines and daily activities
• Develop positive relationships with children, staff and parents
• Begin to take on key worker responsibilities
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Be flexible and support the wider nursery team as needed

Qualifications required

  • You must be working or caring for children whether voluntary or paid. Having a Level 2 in Early Years, Maths and English grade C / 4 or above or functional skills level 2 is desirable but not essential.

Training to be Provided

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:
• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.
