Topics

Jackie overcame her anxieties around maths and embarked on her journey to becoming a Teaching Assistant with Realise.

Introduction:

Jackie’s journey began with a career in hairdressing and a rewarding role as a full-time mother. Eager to follow her dream of becoming a Teaching Assistant, Jackie knew she needed to improve her maths and English skills. Despite her anxiety and doubts, she took a pro-active step and searched for free functional skills courses and found Realise.

Initially, Jackie felt anxious and worried, plagued by self-doubt and a belief she was not capable of mastering maths – a subject she had always found challenging. However, she was determined to overcome her fears. Jackie’s desire to become a Teaching Assistant and passion for helping others pushed her to confront her fears and take the first crucial step towards her goal – enrolling in a Level 1 Maths course.

Next Steps:

Realise provided Jackie with the supportive learning environment she needed to thrive. Discovering that she could succeed in maths was a revelation, transforming her outlook and boosting her confidence. Realising that age was no barrier to learning, Jackie became an advocate for adult education, encouraging others to embrace opportunities for growth.

With the expert guidance of her tutor, Haleema, who was always available to help with any questions, Jackie felt reassured and motivated. Haleema’s approachable and supportive nature strengthened Jackie’s belief in her own abilities to succeed.

Now on her way to becoming a Teaching Assistant, Jackie is grateful for the doors Realise has opened that she once thought were closed, and for the continued support that has been crucial to her progress.

“My tutor Haleema is fantastic. She was always on hand to help with questions or struggles I was having. She’s such a lovely lady; she really made me feel at ease and is so helpful.”
