Nicolas’ Journey
Following a severe spinal injury and a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis, Nicholas, a former joiner from Harrogate was forced to reconsider his career options. Unable to continue in his original trade, Nicholas decided to take a new path, starting with the Functional Skills Maths course offered by Realise.
We asked Nicholas why he chose to take the Functional Skills Maths course:
“I knew that I couldn’t continue my work as a joiner due to my health conditions. However, I also knew that I didn’t want to stop working entirely. The Functional Skills Maths course seemed like a great opportunity to acquire new skills and explore different career paths.”
We asked Nicholas about his experience with the course:
“The course was challenging, but in a good way. It pushed me to think differently and approach problems from various angles. My tutor was incredibly supportive and patient, which made the learning process much easier. She was empathetic to my circumstances and gave me more confidence in my ability to progress.”
We asked Nicholas what he has taken away from the course:
“Completing the course has given me a newfound confidence in my abilities. I’ve learned that it’s never too late to learn something new and change your career path. The skills I’ve gained from this course have opened up a world of possibilities for me.”
We asked Nicholas how Realise has helped him:
“Realise has played a crucial role in my career transition. They provided me with the resources and support I needed to succeed in the course. I’m excited about the future and eager to see where my new skills will take me.”
