Sarah reignites passion for education and lands new job!

After completing a Level 2 course in Preparing to Work in Schools with Realise, Sarah gained a new career as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

Sarah’s Beginnings

Shortly after relocating to Lancaster, Sarah Butcher found herself at a career crossroads. Out of work but eager to make a difference, she had always been drawn to the idea of becoming a Teaching Assistant.

However, she wasn’t sure how to take that first step. By chance, Sarah found an advert on Facebook that would change everything. It was for a Level 2 qualification in Preparing to Work in Schools offered by Realise. Intrigued and hopeful, Sarah seized the opportunity.

This moment was the beginning of a life-changing journey that would lead her to a fulfilling new career.

A Fresh Start with Realise

Sarah joined a group of like-minded individuals embarking on the same journey. The classes, led by an experienced trainer, Leanne Gosling, quickly became the highlight of her week. The supportive environment at Realise fostered a sense of belonging for Sarah. It wasn’t just about learning the basics of working in schools – it was about gaining the confidence to step into the world of education and make a real difference.

The Road to Success

Shortly after completing her Level 2 qualification. Sarah was offered her first role as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant. This role was more than just a job – it was an opportunity to support children with additional needs, a passion Sarah had discovered during her training.

Her new role came with its own challenges, but Sarah’s determination and the skills she had acquired through Realise helped her tackle every obstacle. The hands-on experience she gained in the classroom was invaluable, and Sarah’s natural compassion for her students allowed her to build strong, trusting relationships with them.

Looking Towards the Future

Although Sarah had achieved her initial goal, her journey was far from over. With her passion for education reignited, she is now eyeing her future with ambition. Eager to deepen her knowledge and make an even greater impact, Sarah now plans to further her studies, exploring roles that will allow her to support students on a deeper level. She has ambitions of taking on pastoral responsibilities or advancing her work within the SEN field.

For Sarah, this journey has been about more that just finding a job – it has been about rediscovering her sense of purpose and her passion for learning.
