Realise has hit a new milestone for its Skills Bootcamps in Early Years programme, with their 250th learner now in employment at an Exeter nursery.

A Skills Bootcamps milestone:

The first training provider to launch Early Years Skills Bootcamps is celebrating enrolling its 250th learner on to the programme.

Realise, the UK’s leading training provider for the early years sector, began delivering Skills Bootcamps in February and has helped dozens of learners start a new career in the sector.

The training courses, which can be completed in as little as six weeks and are funded by the government’s Department for Education, have been used as a platform to attract new recruits into early years.

A busy few months for Learner, Ali Noor:

Ali Noor, a 22-year-old from Exeter is one person who has secured a job in early years on the back of completing the Skills Bootcamp with Realise.

Ali is due to start in his position as a nursery assistant at Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Pre-School in Exeter in the coming weeks after beginning his Skills Bootcamp just weeks after securing a 2:1 qualification from his Theology & Philosophy degree at the University of Exeter.

“Working in education or early years was always one of my big career options when I was young and over the last couple of years at university, the desire to work in the sector grew stronger. When I completed my degree, I was struggling to make much progress and kept getting turned away due to a lack of experience.”

The perfect start to a rewarding career:

Ali continues:

“Starting the Skills Bootcamp changed everything. It was a six-week online course and gave me all the skills I needed to start working in the early years sector and it certainly helped my confidence when I went to the interview.

“The training team from Realise was excellent and the course was manageable but also extremely useful and has set me up for my future career.

“I can’t wait to get started with Kiddi Caru and help children develop during those important early years.”

About Skills Bootcamps:

Realise is delivering Skills Bootcamps across many parts of England including Liverpool, Devon and Cornwall, Lancashire, West Midlands, West of England and Hertfordshire.

The Skills Bootcamps are delivered free of charge to anybody over the age of 19 not currently employed in the early years sector.

Individuals who complete the Bootcamp will be guaranteed an interview for a job with a local nursery and will automatically be eligible to begin a Level 3 apprenticeship when they secure employment.

Karen Derbyshire, Operations Director for Early Years at Realise, said:

“We have been delighted with how our Skills Bootcamps have been received and the impact they are having on the industry.”

“We have delivered a number of courses in-person but the online courses have been particularly popular as it offers learners real flexibility to learn the skills required to launch a new career.”

An incredible opportunity for new starters:

“The programme is proving to be extremely successful in providing a platform for people who have never worked in early years to take up a position in the sector and is playing a small part in addressing the recruitment problem the industry has faced for many years.

“The Skills Bootcamp is a real opportunity for people who are currently unemployed, in another job but looking for a new career or people who have worked in early years previously and are now looking to return to the sector.”

As well as securing a guaranteed interview, those completing the Skills Bootcamp will also have access to career coaches while the process of receiving enhanced DBS checks will begin during the training.
