Tahir’s Journey
Tahir Ali, from Bradford, has spent the last 20 years working for Lloyds Bank, over the years, he climbed up the ranks, learning the ins and outs of the financial sector.
His day-to-day tasks included opening up the branch, ensuring its safety for the rest of the staff, setting up the running of the branch for the day, and dealing with customer requests ranging from printing bank statements to setting up large payments and logging complaints.
Despite his successful career in banking, Tahir felt a strong desire for a change. He wanted to break free from the confines of his desk and explore a new career path that would allow him to interact more with the community and work in a dynamic environment.
Eager to learn new skills and move into a completely different field, Tahir enrolled in the bus driving course offered by Realise.
We asked Tahir why he wanted to complete the bus driving course:
“I wanted to move my career into a totally new field. I thought my job had a lot of red tape, but being a bus driver requires an awareness of so many safety rules. The most enjoyable part of the course was learning about the working hours rules that drivers have to follow, depending on whether they are operating under GB or EU rules.”
Tahir explained what he has gained from the Route to Success course:
“This course has equipped me with the necessary skills to embark on a new career path. It has broadened my perspective and made me appreciate the intricacies involved in professions outside the banking sector. It’s been an eye-opening experience, and I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.”
Tahir’s story is a testament to the power of education and the opportunities it can provide. His decision to step out of his comfort zone and embrace a new career path is inspiring and serves as a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your passions.
