Our Associate Project Manager (APM) Apprenticeship is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to become a successful and effective project manager.
Developed in collaboration with experienced project management professionals from across the public, private, and third sectors, the programme reflects the realities of managing large, complex projects in today’s workplace. You'll benefit from real-world insights, up-to-date thinking, and best practices used by industry experts.
We are proud to be an APM-certified provider, demonstrating our commitment to delivering high-quality project management education. As part of this programme, you can also work towards achieving the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ).
Being enrolled in the APM Apprenticeship enables individuals to apply for Student Membership with the Association for Project Management (APM).
Is this course right for you?
This apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are already working in a project management role or regularly manage projects as part of their day-to-day responsibilities. To be eligible, you must be actively involved in project work.
Whether you’re just starting in your project management career or have some years of experience under your belt though, our Level 4 Associate Project Manager course will provide you with access to a wealth of knowledge that will underpin the development of your professional skills.
It’s essential you’re involved in projects on a daily basis to be able to apply the learning and development of the programme to your day-to-day activities.
The programme covers the theory, skills, and behaviours of professional project management to help you succeed in your role. We have created a programme that includes time to understand the principles of structured project management and applying them to real project situations within your workplace so that learning goes beyond theory and is much more practical and useful in helping you develop your career.
What you’ll learn
You’ll gain a solid foundation in the key principles of project management, equipping you to manage projects effectively and supporting your long-term career progression.
The APM qualification demonstrates your understanding of all aspects of project management, how these elements interact, and how projects align with an organisation’s commercial strategy.
We can deliver the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) alongside the APM Level 4 Project Manager Apprenticeship Standard - offering a comprehensive, industry-recognised pathway to professional project management certification.
How you’ll learn
Over the course of our 18-month programme (plus the End Point Assessment), you’ll be supported by a highly experienced team providing a mixture of learning opportunities for you.
Your learning experience will include:
- A dedicated specialist trainer providing ongoing training, guidance, and support
- Hands-on learning, applying skills to real workplace scenarios
- Virtual and/or face-to-face classroom sessions, including regular interactive workshops
- Guided learning tasks
- Online learning resources and support

Associate project manager apprenticeship - Realise

The people that make it happen

Training & development officer
I have worked in education for many years starting off as a British Sign Language Interpreter to working in apprenticeships, business development and managing a work experience department. I work with level 4 project management apprentices, I enjoy supporting apprentices and seeing them achieve and progress in their careers.

I have over 20 years of experience in both primary and secondary education. Throughout my career, I have held a range of leadership roles, including Head of Department, Head of Year, Headteacher, Executive Headteacher, and Maths Specialist Teacher. Much of my work involved turning around struggling schools, which I approached as individual projects—leading school improvement strategies, introducing new ways of working, and raising educational standards.
I have successfully navigated several OFSTED inspections, receiving positive feedback for my work in improving leadership and management, as well as coaching middle and senior leaders to increase their impact across the organisation.
For the past four years, I have been with Realise, where I take pride in guiding my learners through a challenging yet fulfilling journey to develop their careers and realise their full potential.

I have had the opportunity to work across several industries, including Logistics, Entertainment, and Retail. During this time, I developed a strong skill set in customer service, operations management, retail management, and training and development. I gained this experience while working for the world’s leading entertainment company and several prestigious retail brands.
In 2021, I transitioned into the education sector and completed my PGCE, aiming to transfer my skills into the classroom and support students in learning a foreign language.
More recently, I chose to focus on Apprenticeships, as this allows me to share my professional experience across various industries. I’m passionate about supporting individuals at the start of their careers and helping them grow and develop within their roles.

I’ve been in education since 2003, starting as an English as a Foreign Language teacher, working with young learners and adults. After gaining my Level 7 Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA) in 2011, I progressed into academic and operational management roles in the sector, working internationally and then in the UK. In these roles, I developed core business skills, including effective communication and leadership. Delivering successful projects naturally became part of my responsibilities, including curriculum development, designing training programmes, and managing changes to internal processes.
In November 2021, I moved into apprenticeship delivery in the business skills sector at Realise. I work with level 4 associate project management apprentices at various stages of their career. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where everyone feels supported and able to develop. It’s a rewarding role, and I enjoy seeing people become confident, effective project professionals.

FAQs
Apprenticeships are cost-free to the learner. The responsibility for funding lies with the employer. Employers can fund apprenticeships in one of two ways:
> Apprenticeship Levy: Larger employers who pay the apprenticeship levy can use these funds to fully cover the cost of training.
> Co-investment: Smaller employers who do not pay the levy typically contribute 5% of the apprenticeship cost, with the government covering the remaining 95%.
This means businesses can access high-quality training for their staff at a low or no cost, depending on their size and funding eligibility.
