Realise is proud to become a Stonewall Diversity Champion

Realise has demonstrated our commitment to being fully inclusive and diverse by becoming a Stonewall Diversity Champion.

About the membership

Realise has become a member of the Stonewall Diversity Champions initiative which offers support and guidance to employers on how to achieve fully inclusive workplace environments by integrating diversity and inclusion into all parts of their business, with a particular focus on the LGBTQ+ community.

Supporting more than 7,000 learners across the UK every year, Realise plans to use the programme to drive diversity amongst its workforce, assessors and learners.

As part of the programme, Stonewall Diversity Champions will offer support and guidance to Realise and help develop policies with LGBTQ+ best practices.

Regular reviews will take place, while Realise will also have access to frequent webinars, research and guidance on LGBTQ+ inclusion initiatives.

Gregg Scott, managing director of Realise, said:

“Creating an inclusive and diverse environment for everyone associated with our training programmes is at the core of the strategy around our people.

“It’s vital that every single member of the Realise team, including our trainers and learners, feel comfortable in the workplace and that will ensure innovation, progress and that everyone is fulfilling their potential.

“We have already taken steps to ensure we are maximising our diversity and inclusivity but we are also aware that this is a long-term project and there is more for us to do.

“It seems fitting to have joined the Stonewall Diversity Champions programme during Pride Month and we look forward to combining our initiatives and plans with the expertise and insight the scheme brings.”

It’s vital that every single member of the Realise team, including our trainers and learners, feel comfortable in the workplace.

James Chambers, recruitment coordinator at Realise and a member of Realise’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee, is thrilled to see the business embrace plans to further engage with the LGBTQ+ community.

James Chambers said:

“Many of our learners are aged between 16 and 18 and one of the big reasons that joining Stonewall Diversity Champions is so important for us here at Realise is to make our learners feel comfortable in their training environment and able to be themselves.

“Growing up and coming out in my professional life, I struggled to be my true self as I was concerned that people wouldn’t like me for my orientation or respect me in the workplace, so I held myself back. I needed someone or something to help me on my way.

“It’s fantastic to see Realise has now partnered with, and will benefit from, the knowledge of an organisation that will fight for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as challenge laws and societal norms.”
