Chantelle Stockton: A caring heart, a growing career

How a passion for helping others and the level 3 health and social care course helped Chantelle take the next step.

About Chantelle:

For Chantelle Stockton, caring for others has always been more than a job, it’s a calling. Currently working as a Support Worker at Alphonsus Services, Chantelle’s career has been shaped by her passion for helping people live their best lives, no matter their circumstances.

A journey of compassion
“I’ve always wanted to work in a hospital,” Chantelle shared, “but I wasn’t sure which department I’d fit into. That’s why I started working in care, to give myself the chance to explore and provide the best support I could.” Over the years, Chantelle gained experience working with the elderly, particularly in palliative care. But it wasn’t until she transitioned to working with individuals with disabilities that she truly found her calling.

“Disability care has really stood out to me,” Chantelle said, reflecting on her work. “Having a son with traits of autism has given me a deeper understanding and empathy for the people I support. It motivates me to give them the care they deserve.”

A typical day in care
Chantelle’s days are as structured as they are fulfilling. Starting with a handover at the beginning of her shift, she administers morning medications, helps residents shower and dress, and ensures they’re ready for the day ahead. Meals, activities, personal care, and family visits fill the hours, with medication routines and attentive support woven into every moment.

“We’re always balancing their needs with creating a positive and comfortable environment,” Chantelle explained. “Sometimes that means helping someone relax with their favourite TV programme or giving them a little pampering with hair and nails. Every detail matters in making their day the best it can be.”

“I wouldn’t have been able to progress further in my career without this course, now, I can see myself moving up to a senior role one day or finally taking the step into hospital work, like I’ve always dreamed of.”

A step towards progression

Chantelle’s commitment to her role didn’t go unnoticed. When her senior suggested she take the level 3 health and social care course, she jumped at the chance. “I said yes immediately,” Chantelle recalled. “I want to do everything I can to progress in my career.”

The course equipped her with new skills, broader knowledge, and the confidence to grow professionally. “Learning more has made such a difference,” Chantelle said. “It’s not just about the qualification; it’s about applying what I’ve learned to make a real impact in my work.”

Looking to the future
With her dedication, compassion, and drive, there’s no doubt that Chantelle will continue to achieve great things for herself, her family, and the people she supports.
