Conquering imposter syndrome with a Level 3 Diploma in Care

Summer, an Office Manager from Knottingley, completed the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Diploma unlocking a promotion and a significant boost in her confidence and competence.

What is a typical day like as an Office Manager of a care setting?

As an Office Manager, Summer manages a variety of responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the care setting. One of her key duties involves overseeing staff documentation, ensuring that important records such as DBS checks and car insurance are accurate and up to date.

Summer also trains in-house staff on essential skills like moving and handling, first aid, and medication administration. Communication is central to her role, as she regularly liaises with clients, their families, healthcare professionals, and her team members to ensure coordinated care.

In addition to her administrative duties, Summer conducts spot checks and supervisions to maintain high standards within the team. She is actively involved in client reviews to assess and adapt care plans where necessary.

On a hands-on level, Summer provides personal care to clients, ensuring their nutrition, hydration, and medication needs are met. Housekeeping tasks also fall within her remit, helping to maintain a comfortable and clean environment for clients.

What were Summer’s reasons for starting the Level 3 Diploma?

When Summer joined Freedom Home Care, she was initially hired as an Office Administrator but was quickly offered the opportunity to grow and learn alongside her senior colleagues.

Summer embraced the opportunity to progress and felt it was important to continually evolve and develop her skills and knowledge surrounding her job duties.

Summer told Realise that she wanted to be confident and competent, and she believed that completing the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Social Care would support this goal.

Trainer support:

Summer’s tutor Danielle, was there to guide her through the programme and ensure she reached her full potential.

Danielle continues:

“She’s been so motivated throughout her diploma and really has applied herself to learning as much as she could throughout the time I spent tutoring and assessing her work.

“When we started, the long-term goal with Summer and her manager was for Summer to progress into an Office Manager role. Baring this in mind, we decided to take the leadership route as this would help Summer to understand more about how to use her knowledge in Care to lead her team and support her colleagues, alongside providing high quality care herself.”

“My tutor was absolutely amazing and made the course fun and exciting by allowing me to do optional units on things that are most relevant to my job. Danielle has been absolutely wonderful; she made me feel comfortable and allowed me to grow my confidence and offer support when I needed it.”
