Gurnam Singh – From Route to Success to Scaling the Himalayas

After completing a training course with Realise, Gurnam is now embarking on new challenges.

About Gurnam

Gurnam Singh, known for his kindness and charitable work, recently completed the Route to Success training course with Realise.

Route to Success is a free training programme that takes people with no bus driving experience and equips them with the skills to become professional drivers. Allowing them to start a career with a great salary and hours.

This course, fully funded by the GMCA Combined Authority, has led him to an interview with Stagecoach.

Training Manager, Julie McColgan, had nothing but praise for Gurnam, stating that he is a hard worker who will do well in the bus industry due to his excellent people skills.

Gurnam’s Story

Gurnam’s journey didn’t stop there. He recently started training to hike the Himalayas, to raise funds for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia UK (CDH), so far managing to raise an impressive £3,619. Gurnam’s training has included hiking from Lands End to John O’Groats, then progressing onto hiking for a month around Puerto Rico, showing incredible determination and will.

We asked Gurnam about his experience:

“The Route to Success course was instrumental in helping me secure a job with Stagecoach. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t praise the programme enough. As for the Himalayas, it will be a challenging but rewarding experience. Knowing that my efforts were contributing to a cause I deeply care about made it all worthwhile.”

Gurnam has already set himself his next challenge after he completes the Himalayas, swimming the English Channel!
