About the course

The CMI (Chartered Management Institute) Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring Level 3 is ideal for aspiring or existing team leaders, supervisors and managers looking to develop effective coaching and mentoring skills.

This practical 16-week programme builds confidence in supporting individual and team performance while helping you progress your career. You’ll be guided by our experienced training team, gaining practical tools, real-world insight and personalised support to become a confident coach and mentor.

Learning is delivered remotely through interactive webinars, one-to-one trainer support and independent online learning. Your dedicated trainer will support you every step of the way.

This free course is only available to learners in West Yorkshire (Leeds, Wakefield, Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees).

What you will learn:

You’ll achieve the CMI (Chartered Management Institute) Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring Level 3 and gain practical skills to support learning and development in the workplace.

Key areas include:

• Coaching in the workplace: Learn a range of coaching methods, identify coaching opportunities within your organisation, and confidently apply structured coaching processes to support individual performance.

• Mentoring in the workplace: Explore mentoring approaches, recognise mentoring opportunities in organisational settings, and develop the skills to guide others through effective mentoring relationships.

• Professional practice: Build confidence in providing constructive and exploratory feedback, while understanding the importance of confidentiality, ethics and professional boundaries in coaching and mentoring.

By the end of the 16-week programme, you’ll feel equipped with the knowledge, confidence and techniques to coach and mentor effectively in real workplace settings.

How you’ll learn

Our sector-expert trainers bring extensive experience in coaching and mentoring sharing real-world insight to support your development.

The programme is delivered over 16 weeks, with various start dates available between March and July 2026.

All learning takes place on interactive webinars with additional one-to-one support sessions, giving you a high-quality, personalised learning experience.

Our delivery model includes:

• Remote learning sessions with one-to-one support
• Independent learning activities
• Impartial Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)
• Access to an e-portfolio to track progress and evidence your learning journey

Eligibility

You can apply if you:

• Live in West Yorkshire
• Are employed, unemployed, or volunteering
• Earn less than £25,750 per year OR it’s your first full Level 3 qualification
• Are not currently on another funded course (such as an apprenticeship)
• Are ordinarily resident in the UK and have a visa that allows you to complete the full course

Qualifications

• You are eligible if it’s your first full Level 3 qualification, or
• If you already have a Level 3 or above, you must be earning gross annual earnings below the earnings threshold which is £25,750 (the prior Level 3 or above must be in a different subject e.g. you couldn’t do a Degree in Business Management, then undertake a Level 3 Business Management qualification).
• A Levels and Level 3 Diplomas, Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas, Access Courses, Degrees are all level 3 or above (please note this list is not exhaustive).

You cannot apply if you:

• Are currently enrolled on another funded training programme including an apprenticeship or advanced learner loan qualification
• Hold any of the following visa types:
  • Skilled Worker
  • Seasonal Worker (or Partner)
  • Student (or Partner)
  • Graduate (or Partner)
