Welcome to the first Liverpool City Region Adult Learning Awards hosted by Realise on behalf of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. The event will celebrate learners' accomplishments and give recognition to outstanding self-development.

Nominations

The award submissions are now open. The deadline to send nominations is 12 noon 15th March 2024. Don't miss out, the judges are looking forward to reading outstanding stories of achievements.

Ready to read your stories!

The Liverpool City Region Adult Learning Awards are an opportunity for you to nominate the best learners from the Liverpool City Region. The awards are open to any learner from across the area. Learners should have attended courses funded by the Adult Education Budget. We are looking forward to reading stories of learners who have taken steps to improve their prospects through learning.

This is a unique opportunity for learners to be recognised and a panel of expert judges will be reviewing their stories. We believe in rewarding learners for their success, dedication to adult education and hard work to improve their future.

Submission

Submitting an entry is quick, simple and free. Please submit a nomination through our online form below. There are a few rules, please have a read before you send your nomination.

We will be announcing the panel of judges before the closing submission date.

Award Categories

  • Adult Learner of the Year Award – Liverpool City Region (Headline award).
  • Adult Learner of the Year Award – Halton.
  • Adult Learner of the Year Award – Knowsley.
  • Adult Learner of the Year Award – Liverpool.
  • Adult Learner of the Year Award – Sefton.
  • Adult Learner of the Year Award – St Helens.
  • Adult Learner of the Year Award – Wirral.
  • Learning to Gain Work Award – This award will highlight a learner who has demonstrated a determination to overcome significant obstacles and barriers to learning.
  • Learning in Work Award – This award will demonstrate a commitment to in-work progression as a result of further education and training.
  • Progression in Learning Award – This award will highlight the learner for personal development and a non-employment outcome, where barriers and personal challenges have been faced and overcome.
  • Social Integration Award – This award will highlight where learning has been used to support social integration within the Liverpool City Region.
  • Health and Wellbeing Award – This award will recognise a learner who has recovered/is recovering from a mental or physical health condition where learning has benefited recovery.
  • Referral Partner of the Year Award – This award will be presented to the organisation that has best-supported access to adult learning.

Awards Venue

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 25th of April 2024, between 11:00 – 14:00.

The event will be held at The Florrie, 377 Mill Street, Liverpool, L8 4RF.

The awards ceremony is a free event, nominees, short-listed nominations, adult learners and referral partners are most welcome to come and enjoy the ceremony together.

Dress code: Casual daywear.

Entry Rules

The awards are simple to enter and open to anyone involved in adult education in the Liverpool City Region.

  • Entry is free.
  • When preparing a submission, please review your entry carefully, and describe in as much detail as possible why you believe the learners should win. Nominations are open to learners who have completed courses from January 2023 onwards.
  • The judges will be looking for a compelling story, demonstrating commitment, enthusiasm and a willingness to overcome barriers.
  • All entries must be submitted online via https://realisetraining.com/lala-2024-entry-sub/.
  • The deadline for entries is Friday 15th March 2024 at 12:00 noon, entries received beyond this time will not be considered.
  • A learner can be submitted for more than one award. but only one submission can be made per category.
    Please note that no single submission will be accepted in more than one category.
  • The shortlist will be published on Monday 25th 2024 March 2024 with the winners being announced at The Florrie, Liverpool on Thursday 25th April 2024.
  • The judging panel’s decision is final.
  • Entries can’t be submitted by learners, all entries are to be filled in by training providers, trainers and referral partners.
