Danielle’s Transformation Through Realise Early Years Skills Bootcamp

A domestic violence survivor and a confident early years practitioner, Danielle's journey is truly inspiring.

Danielle’s story:

Danielle, a survivor of a decade-long domestic abuse situation, was initially apprehensive about joining the Realise Early Years Skills Bootcamp due to her anxiety and discomfort in group situations. However, with encouragement from her partner, she decided to take the plunge. This decision turned out to be life-changing for Danielle, who now feels more confident and prepared to work in a nursery setting.

We asked Danielle about her experience during the Skills Bootcamp:

At the start of the Bootcamp, Danielle was anxious and unsure about how she would cope with the group setting. But by the end of the six weeks, she felt transformed. She said, “I’m so thankful that I’ve actually done the course because it’s completely brought me out of my shell, and it’s made me realise that going into the nursery setting I’m going to be OK.”

Support and next steps

Danielle praised the support provided during the programme, describing it as “absolutely fantastic.” She also revealed that she would be doing her apprenticeship with Realise, which she was looking forward to.

The Skills Bootcamp has empowered Danielle to believe in herself. She now feels confident about working in a nursery setting and conducting activities with children. The course has equipped her with the knowledge and skills she needs to succeed in her new role.

Danielle found the online format of the course to be brilliant and convenient. Being able to participate from her own environment helped alleviate her anxiety.

To new Skills Bootcamp learners, Danielle advises, “Take it in your stride, take your time. Just go with the flow. Everything will be explained and by the end of the course they will be where I am now, moving on to the level 3 apprenticeship.”
