Kyel’s new direction in early years
Sometimes a single opportunity can open the door to a completely new career path. For Kyel Dempsey, enrolling on the Early Years Accelerated Apps Bootcamp was the first step towards building a future in early years. With a desire to grow professionally, gain confidence and develop new skills, the course offered the chance to move forward and explore a new direction.
Kyel explained, “I wanted to progress in my career, gain confidence and learn new skills.”
The experience helped him take the first steps into a rewarding sector where supporting children’s learning and development is at the heart of the role.
Building on experience and passion
Before starting the course, Kyel had been a youth worker, supporting young people and helping them develop important skills in life. While this role was meaningful, he felt ready to expand his knowledge and move into the early years sector.
Kyel added, “I took this opportunity to reaffirm my knowledge and further develop myself to become a competent practitioner within the early years sector.”
The course helped bridge the transition, allowing him to strengthen their understanding of child development and professional practice.
Learning from an inspiring tutor
One of the highlights of the experience was the supportive and engaging teaching style of the tutor. The positive learning environment made the sessions enjoyable and helped the learner stay motivated throughout the course.
“My tutor always had a happy face and so much knowledge. They had really helpful style of teaching; also, the classes were great.”
This encouragement played an important role in building confidence and helping Kyel feel supported in their journey.
Opening the door to new opportunities
Completing the course created new career opportunities that may not have been possible otherwise. Without taking this step, Kyel believes his path would look very different today.
“I wouldn't be in a full-time paid NVQ apprenticeship working in a private nursery.”
This achievement represents a major milestone and a step forward.
Progression ahead
Kyel is now focused on continuing their development within the early years sector and progressing through their qualifications.
“I'm planning on using my skills to progress through the NVQ and become a level 3 qualified practitioner.”
