Home Instead partner with Realise to create a pathway into health and social care

Realise

Home Instead, a world-leading home care provider, has partnered with Realise to support the next generation of care professionals.

Onboarding and recruitment

The partnership has created an opportunity for those without any prior experience to join the care sector, and for Home Instead to expand their workforce of ‘CAREGivers’.

Four Home Instead franchises, Knowsley and Liverpool East, Liverpool Central, St Helens and Fylde and Wyre, are recruiting for new staff through the new initiative. This will see new recruits first complete a Level 1 qualification in Health and Social Care, before progressing on to more advanced training.

One of Realise’s dedicated recruitment specialists, Joanne Norford, advertises on Home Instead’s behalf. At the interview stage, the candidate’s values and personal qualities are taken in consideration, to ensure they will be a great fit for a caring role.

Successful applicants are then invited to undertake a level 1 training programme with Realise, before progressing onto employment with Home Instead, where they will then complete a level 2 Health and Social Care programme.

Opportunities for development

Candidates cannot start work until they’ve been DBS checked. Whilst the candidates wait for their checks to take place, they can also take advantage of a range of fully-funded short courses with Realise, for example:

Now we are working with Realise, we can offer a recognised qualification to give them the knowledge and confidence to start a new career with us in care which has provided us with some amazing new staff.

Thoughts on the partnership

Wendy Powell, our Realise Performance Manager, first started working with Home Instead in January 2020. Wendy said: “Since Home Instead came on board with us, we have developed an excellent working partnership.”

We partnered with Home Instead because they are passionate about ensuring everyone in their communities receives their best person-centred care possible and ensure their patients are always comfortable by providing care in the home.

Moreover, like Realise, Home Instead wanted to ensure everyone could have the opportunity to work in Health and Social Care.”

Home Instead’s Recruitment and Training Manager Sian Stephens explained: “We welcome applicants with little or no experience as we provide fully paid training. Many of the candidates we interview have no understanding or experience in care.”

“Now we are working with Realise, we can offer those potential new ‘CAREGivers’ a recognised qualification to give them the knowledge and confidence to start a new career with us in care which has provided us with some amazing new staff.”

Our partnership in practice

Naomi, started with Home Instead in 2021 and was recruited through Realise, she told us about her experience: “I joined Home Instead after they enrolled me on the Level 1 Introduction to Health and Social Care as I was new to care.”

After starting with Realise Naomi received dedicated support from our trainers: “The assessor at Realise was great and gave me the skills and confidence to start my training and induction with Home Instead.”

Naomi explained why Health and Social Care can be so rewarding: “I have been matched to some lovely clients, I am out working and I love it every day because I am helping look after the most vulnerable in my community.”
