Team! QED and Realise to deliver new programme boosting numeracy skills in West Yorkshire.

Realise

Multiply is an ambitious nationwide programme focused on transforming the lives of hundreds of thousands of adults across the UK. With no homework or exams, Multiply is designed to teach maths skills through fun, activity-based workshops.

About Multiply:

Multiply is the Government’s £560 million programme, delivered through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, to help transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of adults across the UK.

Businesses that develop their employees’ numeracy skills can boost productivity, increase profits, and improve employee retention.

Adults over the age of 19 who don’t have a GCSE grade C/4 or higher in maths are able to access free courses that fit around their lives – whether that be in person or online, at work or in the evening, part-time or intensive – with additional support to meet their needs.

Employers are able to work with their local authority and training providers to deliver Maths GCSEs or work-ready Functional Skills Qualifications and design and deliver bespoke programmes for their workforce – at no cost to them.

Catherine English, Project Lead for Multiply at West Yorkshire Combined Authority, says:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for SMEs and the wider business community across the region.

“This scheme is designed to help build confidence and remove anxiety around maths and numeracy for people who are required to use such skills as some part of their job, without it being the dominant feature.

“For the employee, this provides the chance to enhance their career development and increase their skillset while, for the business, it will help improve productivity and should assist with staff retention.”

QED Foundation Founder and Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali, said:

Commenting on the new partnership: “We are delighted to partner with Realise to help deliver the Multiply for Business programme in West Yorkshire. They share our passion for developing the skills of individuals and businesses which are the bedrock of a thriving economy and a prosperous society.”

Sarah Birkinshaw, Delivery Manager for Realise, adds:

“We want to engage with as many businesses as possible in West Yorkshire as this can make a real difference to both its people and its performance.

“When a business signs up for Multiply, we will consult very closely with its team to find out its specific requirements and devise a bespoke programme within the Multiply framework to ensure we are delivering sessions which meet the needs of the business.

“There is no one-size-fits-all approach for Multiply.”
