Leading training provider Realise has demonstrated its support for the country’s Armed Forces community by signing a series of commitments, including the promise of guaranteed interviews for service leavers.

About the pledge

Realise has become a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, which recognises the contribution that service personnel – including regulars, reservists and veterans – make to the country.

In signing the covenant, Realise vowed to uphold its principles, while making its own bespoke pledges.

Realise has agreed to guarantee interviews for suitably qualified service leavers for jobs within the company.

The training provider will also offer additional unpaid leave to Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to help them carry out their training requirement.

Additionally, Realise promised to promote Armed Forces events such as Armed Forces Day, while signposting members of the Armed Forces community to available support.

Kairon Flowers, Operations Director of Partnerships at Realise, said:

“Across the country, there has been a growing issue in recent years with a lack of trained bus drivers and, along with other factors, that has affected the number and quality of services provided.

“The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority has recognised that and is taking steps to ensure the long-term provision of bus travel within the region remains strong.

“Attracting new drivers to the industry will support the growth plans the region has and stabilise its service provision.

“This training programme also offers individuals seeking a fresh challenge and it is a fantastic opportunity to embark on a new career path.

“Bus drivers can expect 38-hour guaranteed contracts and job security. For many people, it is an excellent opportunity to move away from the uncertainty of zero-hour contacts.

“We are looking for expressions of interest from as many people as possible.”
