After overcoming early challenges, Asma Aden has achieved the highest possible grade and strengthened her confidence as a leader.
Asma Aden, Deputy Manager at Precious Homes, has completed her Level 5 Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship with a Distinction, the highest grade possible.
Her achievement reflects the determination and resilience she showed throughout the programme. After initially struggling to find the time and support needed to progress, a change of employer gave Asma the opportunity to rebuild her confidence, develop her leadership skills and demonstrate her full potential.
“Achieving a Distinction has given me greater confidence in my abilities and encouraged me to continue my professional development,” said Asma.
Building her leadership capabilities
Asma chose the apprenticeship to develop her knowledge, skills and confidence while gaining a recognised qualification.
She wanted to strengthen her professional capabilities, learn best practice that she could apply in the workplace and improve the contribution she made to her team and organisation. She also saw the programme as an opportunity for personal growth and career progression.
Overcoming challenges
At the beginning of the programme, Asma faced both personal and professional challenges. After changing employment, Asma received greater encouragement, support and opportunities to learn. This helped her rebuild her confidence, develop new skills and become more engaged with the programme.
With the right support in place, Asma was able to overcome the challenges she had faced and complete her apprenticeship with a Distinction.
Asma’s trainer, Lyn, said:
“Asma should be incredibly proud of achieving a Distinction. She showed real resilience and determination throughout her apprenticeship, particularly when overcoming the challenges she experienced at the beginning of the programme. It has been wonderful to see her develop into such a confident and capable leader.”
Making a difference at work
As Asma’s confidence and competence grew, she began taking on greater responsibilities within her organisation. This included conducting investigations and contributing to business development meetings.
These experiences strengthened her communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills. She also developed a better understanding of how the organisation operates; how different departments work together and how strategic decisions are made.
Applying her learning in real workplace situations has helped Asma become a more capable and proactive member of the team. She is now more confident when making decisions, communicating with colleagues and supporting operational improvements.
Looking towards registered management
Completing the apprenticeship has helped Asma recognise the opportunities available for career progression and prepared her for future leadership positions.
She now feels ready to take on additional responsibilities and contribute more strategically to organisational success. The knowledge and experience she has gained have also provided a strong foundation for progressing into a registered management role.
Asma’s advice to future learners
Asma encourages anyone considering an apprenticeship to stay focused and make the most of the support available, even when progress feels difficult.
“Never give up on your dreams and goals. You may face challenges and obstacles along the way, but perseverance and determination will help you overcome them. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow, and there is always light at the end of the tunnel.”
