From kitchen to classroom: Karolina’s fresh start with English and Maths

How a full-time chef found confidence, support, and a new career direction through flexible learning.

Karolina Jany is a full-time chef who decided it was time to invest in herself and consider a new career path. Balancing the demands of a busy kitchen with study is no easy task, but Karolina was determined to improve her skills and future.

The decision to learn
Karolina enrolled in both of our Level 1 English and Maths courses with the goal of progressing to Level 2. “I’m really happy with my course,” she said. “Jennifer was very helpful and always there to answer all my questions.” With her confidence growing, Karolina is now already working through our Level 2 English and Maths course.

Support that made a difference
Starting the course brought some nerves, but the welcoming team helped put Karolina at ease. “I was nervous, but everyone was very friendly,” she recalled. The key to Karolina’s success has been the ongoing support from her tutor, Jennifer. “She is very, very patient and very professional with explaining stuff that I was struggling with.”

Weekly meetings and mock exams gave Karolina the structure and preparation she needed. “Jennifer helped me so much. I’m glad I finally found someone who could help me to change my life and career.”

Flexibility for working adults
For someone working full time, flexibility was essential and this course delivered. “The course is really good because you could fit it into your busy schedule if you’re working, like me.”

Looking ahead
Now well on her way to completing Level 2, Karolina is beginning to think about her next steps. “I’m planning to look for a new job after I finish my Level 2,” she said. The learning experience has opened up new possibilities and sparked a genuine passion for personal growth.
