Trade supplier apprenticeships
The new initiative saw 33 employees begin trade supplier apprenticeships in January 2020. The learners will benefit from dedicated access to expert trainers, regular one-to-ones and quarterly networking days to enhance their learning experience.
The 15-month programme has been collaboratively designed by Realise and Eurocell. It combines training in both the branch warehouse and the trade counter, together with a strong focus on identifying and managing customer needs. This means that apprentices benefit from gaining a wide range of skills and knowledge, including technical product knowledge, which will help them to progress within the industry. Working in close collaboration has enabled Realise to generate a clear plan on how Eurocell learners will fulfil their 20% off the job obligation, in line with Eurocell’s own strategic internal training.
In preparation for the launch of the apprenticeship, a training session for managers and mentors took place on 14th January. The day aimed to build knowledge and understanding of the programme, as well as highlighting the important role that managers and mentors have in supporting apprentices to succeed.
Andy McDonnell, Managing Director of the Branch network at Eurocell, said: “We strongly believe that people are our biggest asset. Everything we do is centred on our company vision, all together better, and living our values to ensure our customers’ needs are put first.
“Through this collaboration with Realise and the apprenticeship levy, we have been able to build a programme which we believe to be truly outstanding. The benefits to our teams are huge and we hope that the apprentices enjoy every minute of this new opportunity.”
Gregg Scott, Managing Director at Realise, said: “Eurocell is making a significant investment in their employees through this new initiative. I am absolutely delighted that Realise can be a part of this exciting journey and share our expertise in trade supplier apprenticeships.
“I’d like to extend my thanks to all involved, and in particular our Head of Sector for Merchanting, Jennifer Munslow. Eurocell and Realise have been working tirelessly to ensure the employees at Eurocell receive an exceptional programme that offers genuine development opportunities. We are looking forward to seeing the apprentices learn new skills, gain confidence and obtain their qualifications.”
The first cohort of learners are due to finish their apprenticeship in 2021. Eurocell and Realise have planned a graduation event to mark the occasion in Summer 2021.
